About The Robert Leo Group (RLG)
The Robert Leo Group was formed in 2012 by brothers Rick and Randy McDermott. The two decided that their property management and consulting business needed a calling card. After serious contemplation, Rick pitched their father’s first and middle name, "Robert Leo". They added group to the end of it and they both agreed that it did indeed sound regal.
Both Rick and Randy have a passion for entrepreneurship and a desire to achieve a high level of independence.
Rick McDermott holds a bachelors degree from the University of Akron. He has over 20 years of steel industry experience in the areas of commodities and sales. He is also the owner and President of the Sandler Sales Training campus located in Independence, Ohio which he began in 2012. Rick has a passion for delivering effective sales training and is considered to be one of the leading sales trainers in the United States.
Randy holds an undergraduate in business from Ohio Dominican University and an MBA from Capital University. He has over 25 years of experience in several industries. At the age of 19 he successfully owned and operated a gas and service station and became a nationally recognized Master ASE Technician. After a few short years he sold the business and worked for The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co where he rose through the organization and was recognized as a top 10 manager successive years in a row. Constantly looking for more challenging work, Randy left Goodyear after 15 years...he determined he would take his current skills and education and work for Waste Management Inc (WM). He again rose through the ranks eventually overseeing WM's fleet in the Midwest and Canada. Eventually Randy made his way into consulting...Sometime in 2013, PwC-Strategy& recruited him to provide strategy and supply chain consulting. Working at PwC allowed Randy to see the business community through the lense of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and bankruptcies. Randy left PwC at the end of 2020 and formed RLG Professional Services...The practice provides supply chain consulting and staffing solutions.
Randy also acquired the Robert Leo Groups first commercial property and established "The Robert Leo Group Properties LLC in 2018. The property is a sprawling 1 acre temperature controlled, commercial storage and warehouse facility.
In addition Randy also started a dumpster rental company in Columbus Ohio in early 2016. The company Dump-A-Box Dumpster Rental has grown rapidly from just 1 truck and 10 dumpsters to 3 trucks and over 120 dumpsters. While dumpster companies are not rare, Randy has engineered this dumpster company to be the most digitized in the country which enables it to scale rapidly. His company was recently mentioned in Entrepreneur's of Columbus...Check out the article HERE! In 2021, Dump-A-Box Dumpster Rentals will be offered as a national franchise.
